Christopher Ulivo Studio Visit Synopsis and Discussion Links.
During the studio visit with Christopher Ulivo on June 17th 2009 the group examined and discussed Ulivo’s new work in relationship to pervious paintings from the series; Prehistoric Park , Life in the Pacific & Life in the Atlantic, and On Set. Ulivo’s paintings depict unraveled tableaux based on cinema and mediated landscapes, often deriving themes from literary tales of adventure.

Nine Lives Panel Discussion @ The Hammer Museum
Michael Ned moderates a panel discussion with artists Lisa Anne Auerbach, Kaari Upson, and Charlie White. This panel focuses on the group show Nine Lives at UCLA’s Hammer Museum. During the panel discussion, the artists compare living in L.A. to New York.
I’ve included this video as it pertains to the portion of Ulivo’s studio visit that focused on how artists are perceived to affect place (the city in which they live) and how places are perceived to impose themselves upon artists.
Not Discussed but also a good Panel on Place and Artists
